award · 2026-04-27

The La Quadriennale di Roma, under the direction of Gian Maria Tosatti, has initiated its inaugural two 12-month post-doctoral scholarships for the period of 2022-2024. Alessandra Franetovich will conduct research titled "Panorama dell'arte italiana del XXI secolo," which will examine contemporary Italian art through interviews and archival studies across different regions. Meanwhile, Vincenzo Estremo's project, "Cyberproletariat la Neoplebe, Classe Creativa, Élite," will delve into AI, virtual reality, and NFTs, with plans for public presentations. Both scholars' findings will be published. These scholarships are part of the Network interuniversitario initiative, overseen by Raffaella Perna from Sapienza University. Additionally, Gaia Bobò (b. 1995, Noto) has been appointed as the under-30 curator-in-residence, focusing on cultural programming and exhibitions, with an annual stipend and access to Quadriennale resources.
