Quadreria of Palazzo Ducale in Venice Reopens After Restoration

exhibition · 2026-04-27

On March 25, 2023, the Quadreria at Palazzo Ducale in Venice will welcome visitors once again following its restoration by Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia (MUVE), aided by the Venice International Foundation (VIF). This initiative encompasses the Sala della Quarantia Criminale, Sala dei Cuoi, and Sala del Magistrato alle Leggi. Notably, the Sala dei Cuoi features Flemish masterpieces, such as 'Inferno', the sole remaining artwork from the 1615 exhibition, alongside Quentin Metsys's 'Christ Mocked'. Other significant pieces include Giambattista Tiepolo's 'Venice Receives Gifts of the Sea from Neptune', Giovanni Bellini's 'Pietà', Titian's 'Madonna and Child with Two Angels', and Carpaccio's 'Lion of St. Mark'. Additionally, long-term loans will present works by Titian, Tintoretto, and Gentileschi. Mayor Luigi Brugnaro and MUVE president Mariacristina Gribaudi introduced new programs, such as a Secret Itinerary and a rotating 'Guests at the Palace' initiative.
