Quadrarobuck opens in Rome's Quadraro district as hybrid bookshop and cultural center
Quadrarobuck, a new hybrid bookshop and cultural center, opened on September 7 in Rome's Quadraro district at Via Juvenci 69. The space was inaugurated by actor Ascanio Celestini presenting his new book. It occupies the former premises of Ka Book, an independent bookstore that recently closed. The initiative is promoted by the cultural association AMICA, which plans workshops, creative labs, exhibitions, music courses, a space for emerging writers, and a focus on author Andrea Camilleri. Quadrarobuck joins a growing cultural scene in Quadraro, which includes Casa Vuota by Francesco Paolo del Re and Sabino Nichilo, and Spazio Y. The neighborhood has a significant history: during WWII it was an anti-fascist stronghold and suffered a violent roundup by the German army in 1944. For a decade, it has hosted MUro, an urban art project by artist David Vecchiato, featuring works like Lucamaleonte's 'Nido di Vespe'. From September 14 to 28, the 19th edition of the festival Attraversamenti Multipli, created by Margine Operativo, will focus on cross-disciplinary contemporary languages and creativity.
