Qatar Museums' 'Your Ghosts Are Mine' Transforms Palazzo Franchetti

Qatar Museums presents 'Your Ghosts Are Mine – Expanded Cinemas, Amplified Voices' at Palazzo Franchetti during the Venice Biennale. The group exhibition features tens of films from the Middle East and Global South, organized thematically into rooms such as 'There Are No Empty Spaces' (desert films), 'The Flame of Resistance', 'One Day The War Will Be Over' (borders), and 'Where The Hearts Open' (women's stories). Notable works include Shirin Neshat and Shoja Azari's 'Land of Dreams' (2021), Ali Cherri's 'The Dam' (2022), Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese's 'Mother I'm Suffocating. This is My Last Film About You' (2019), Wael Shawky's 'Al Araba Al Madufa III' (2015), Randa Maroufi's 'Bab Sebta (Ceuta's Gate)' (2019), Deniz Gamze Ergüven's 'Mustang' (2015), and Ali Asgari's 'Disappearance' (2017). The dimly lit, maze-like venue encourages solitary viewing, with chandeliers intruding on the films to evoke ghostliness.
