QARAJ Creates Custom Display Typeface for Baku Restaurant KOSTA

QARAJ has designed a brand identity for KOSTA, a restaurant and bar in Baku, centered on a custom display typeface. The typographic system uses heavy-set, high-contrast letterforms in deep black, off-white, and warm cream tones. Thick strokes and tight kerning create a dense, rhythmic presence across menus, coasters, stationery, and motion graphics. The typeface anchors white space on layouts, paired with clean sans-serifs for readability. Cartoon-style illustration elements interact with the letterforms, while motion pieces extend the typographic energy through fluid movement. The project demonstrates how a singular typographic voice can define a physical space in the hospitality sector, relying on character-driven letterforms rather than complex imagery.
