Qantas Avro 504K replica to feature in Powerhouse Parramatta's opening exhibition

The newly established Powerhouse Parramatta museum in Western Sydney is set to display its inaugural artifacts, featuring a replica of the Qantas Avro 504K, the airline's original aircraft. This Avro replica will be showcased above a Cierva C.30A Autogiro, an early helicopter prototype, alongside the Skycraft Scout Mark 1, an ultralight plane crafted by Australian Ron Wheeler. These items will be included in the museum's significant opening exhibition, Task Eternal, which delves into the realms of design, innovation, and technology, highlighting humanity's ambition to conquer flight. Constructed in Mascot by Qantas engineers and apprentices in 1988, the Avro replica weighs over 760 kilograms, is nearly 9 meters in length, has an 11-meter wingspan, and is among over 750 artifacts featured in the exhibition, located in the museum's largest gallery.
