Qalandiya International Biennale Unites Palestinian Art and Architecture
From November 1 to 15, 2012, the 4th Riwaq Biennale and the 6th Jerusalem Show were held across the West Bank, encompassing Ramallah, East Jerusalem, and four villages: 'Abwein, Dhahiriya, Hajjab, and Jamma'in. Organized by Qalandiya International, the event featured a central exhibition titled Gestures in Time, curated by Katya Garcia-Anton and Lara Khaldi, which showcased approximately thirty artists. Opening in Qalandiya village near the separation wall and Atarot International Airport, the biennale aimed to promote Palestinian territorial unity. It included various exhibitions, performances, and architectural tours, highlighting the influence of internet access on life under restrictions. Despite limited funding, the event captured the beauty and struggles of authentic Palestine.
