Punta Conterie: New Cultural Hub Opens on Murano Island

Punta Conterie, a new cultural hub on the island of Murano, will open on August 30, 2019. The project was conceived by entrepreneurs Alessandro Vecchiato and Dario Campa, and is located in the outer perimeter of the former Conterie di Murano, factories originally used for glass bead production. Acquired in 2017, the space underwent two years of renovation. It aims to preserve the island's artisanal traditions while engaging with contemporary culture. The venue features Vetri Ristorante and Vetri Bistrot, the exhibition space InGalleria, and shops including InGalleria Shop and Fioraio. The design emphasizes an osmotic relationship between interior and exterior through large windows. A notable architectural element is a staircase covered in a mosaic with ten shades of aqua green. The second floor has a restored herringbone oak floor, exposed ceiling beams, and 'sansovino' boxes with floral decorations. The opening exhibition, 'Lino Tagliapietra. Glasswork,' runs from September 8 to December 31, 2019. Tagliapietra (Murano, 1934), a master glass artist, will present 65 works divided into 9 installations, including 'Ali di vetro,' 'Avventura' (50 small unique pieces in aventurine glass), and 'Dinosauri.' Some works come from his historical archive, others were created for the event. Alessandro Vecchiato is the curator.
