Puglia Art&Craft: Paolo Lorusso and the Art of Ceramics
The Puglia Art&Craft project, promoted by Pugliapromozione – Agenzia Regionale del Turismo, showcases the region's artisanal traditions through a collection of objects that blend heritage with innovation. Among the featured artisans is ceramist Paolo Lorusso, who trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze and later in a Florentine workshop. After returning home, he deepened his ceramic skills in a Matera laboratory, learning the turning technique. In 1983, he opened his own workshop in Altamura. Lorusso revives the ancient Apulian figural art, producing design pieces where tradition and contemporaneity coexist harmoniously. The 2022 collection is available on viaggiareinpuglia.it.
