Publix Expands Frozen Berry Recall Over E. coli Outbreak
There’s been a multistate outbreak of E. coli O145, prompting Publix to expand its recall for all frozen GreenWise berries. Announced on July 29, this includes both GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries in 10-ounce and 48-ounce sizes. These products were sold across several states, including Alabama and Florida, among others. Sales were halted at the end of June, and shoppers are encouraged to either throw them away or return them for a refund. The supplier, Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. from San Carlos, Chile, is now flagged by the FDA. So far, there are 12 confirmed illnesses in Florida and Georgia, with four hospitalizations and no deaths reported. The FDA is still investigating.
