Public Movement to Perform Rescue at Arte Fiera 2023 in Bologna
Public Movement, an Israeli performance collective founded in 2006 by Omer Krieger and Dana Yahalomi and led solely by Yahalomi since 2011, will present their work Rescue at the next edition of Arte Fiera, Italy's longest-running modern and contemporary art fair, held in Bologna from February 3 to 5, 2023. The performance is part of a new program launched in collaboration with Fondazione Furla, curated by its artistic director Bruna Roccasalva. Rescue, previously shown at the Tel Aviv Museum in 2015, combines installation, performance, and choreography into a 'political dance' performed by five dancers who learned movements from emergency rescue training in Israel and Europe. The action takes place on a pile of concrete rubble evoking a collapse of unknown origin—natural disaster, attack, or war. The work resonates with Bologna's history, specifically the 1980 bombing, which motivated Yahalomi to restage the piece in this city. The fair also marks the appointment of collector Enea Righi as managing director alongside artistic director Simone Menegoi, focusing on visitor experience.
