Proximars startup creates first robot-made art series Andy_BOT

Italian startup Proximars has created Andy_BOT, a limited-edition series of artworks produced through the synergy of human artist and robotic arm. Founded a year ago by Luca Maitan, an entrepreneur in robotic painting systems, together with designer and artistic director Davide Vercelli, Simeone Maitan, and Mattia Parola, the company applies robotics to art by integrating color palettes and program codes. The first artist involved is NO CURVES, an international exponent of Tape Art, who used the mechanical arm Primus—guided by a program developed by Proximars following the artist's design—to create the works. Andy_BOT pays homage to Pop Art icon Andy Warhol and robotics. NO CURVES stated he chose Warhol because he is a transmedial figure who reached the heart of art and commerce through various media and techniques. The limited edition, available in three series, will be offered on Kickstarter at an accessible price. Davide Vercelli emphasized that the work is not a simple print or serigraphy but a creation where artist creativity and technological potential are integrated and cooperative. Proximars aims to develop a portfolio of tools offering artists unprecedented expressive modes.
