Proton Therapy Data Transformed into Sound Art by Iaconesi and Persico

digital · 2026-04-27

"Di Protoni e Dati. La Cura, l'Arte, la Scienza" is a sound art performance by Salvatore Iaconesi and Oriana Persico that transforms proton therapy data into 3D audio. This project originated from Iaconesi's proton therapy for brain cancer at the Centro di Protonterapia di Trento in 2020. The augmented reality piece allows patients to "wear" their therapy sessions, making the invisible protons audible. The online premiere is scheduled for March 27, 2021, at 7 PM on Facebook, hosted by Artribune, Fondazione Bruno Kessler, and HER. A discussion will follow, featuring Barbara Carfagna and participants such as Alberto Abruzzese and Michele Kettmaier. Collaborators include Fondazione Bruno Kessler and PlusValue. Iaconesi highlights the work's role in sharing therapeutic experiences and merging art with scientific data.
