Project 88 and Vadehra Art Gallery Present Indian Art at No.9 Cork Street for London Gallery Weekend

For London Gallery Weekend, Frieze's year-round space at No.9 Cork Street in Mayfair will host two Indian galleries from 5th–28th June 2026. Project 88 makes its debut with 'Treeish', a group exhibition curated by Prajna Desai featuring Claire Baker, Mahesh Baliga, Neha Choksi, Goutam Ghosh, Trupti Patel, and Tejal Shah. The show draws on writings by British tree scientist Harriet Rix, exploring trees as animate and entangled with memory and care through sculpture, painting, video, and material practices. It extends 'Never Was a Shade', concurrently on view at Project 88 in Mumbai. Vadehra Art Gallery returns with 'A Singular Modernist', dedicated to the late A. Ramachandran (1935–2023). Spanning five decades, his practice engaged with the Bhil community of Udaipur and tribal, folk, and classical Indian art traditions. The exhibition includes works from his 1980s 'Puppet Theatre' series, later paintings, drawings, and sculpture, notably lotus pond imagery. Selvi May Akyildiz, Director of No.9 Cork Street, noted London as a crossroads for global perspectives. The programme has increasingly amplified South Asian voices.
