Prix Pictet Storm Exhibition Debuts in Chicago
The Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago is hosting the 11th edition of the Prix Pictet Award, named Storm, from May 29 to August 22. This marks the award’s first showcase in the United States. The exhibition features 12 talented artists whose photography addresses critical issues related to sustainability and worldwide crises. Karen Irvine, the Chief Curator, highlights the exhibition’s emphasis on urgent topics like climate change and political turmoil. Among the notable works is Alfredo Jaar's The End, which reveals the alarming 73% reduction in the Great Salt Lake’s water and a 60% drop in its surface area since the 1800s, a situation scientists have termed an 'environmental nuclear bomb.' Other remarkable pieces include Laetitia Vançon's Tribute to Odesa and Hannah Modigh's Hurricane Season.
