Prix Pictet 2017 Shortlist: 12 Photographers on Sustainability
The seventh Prix Pictet global photography award has announced a shortlist of 12 photographers recognized for their work on sustainability, focusing on the theme 'Space.' The nominees are Mandy Barker from the UK, Germany’s Saskia Gronenberg, Beate Guetschow, and Thomas Ruff, Japan’s Rinko Kawauchi and Sohei Nishino, Benny Lam from China, Richard Mosse from Ireland, Sergey Ponomarev from Russia, Munem Wasif from Bangladesh, and Germany’s Michael Wolf. Kofi Annan is set to reveal the winner at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London on Thursday, May 4, 2017, where the recipient will receive CHF100,000 (about £80,000). An exhibition of the shortlisted works will also tour New York, Zurich, and Stuttgart. The shortlist was made public on November 15, 2016.
