Private Library Ostinata Opens in Milan as Community Hub
A new private library called Ostinata has opened in Milan, located behind the Università Statale. Founded by 79-year-old former manager Paolo Prota Giurleo, former CEO of Autogrill and current board member of Jakala, the library offers free services similar to public libraries, including book lending and study spaces. The 80-square-meter space, restored by architect Michele De Lucchi and his son Pico, features a 'libreria-montagna' and seats 46 people. It holds 4,000 books and is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm. Technically part of the Biblioteche di Condominio system, which affiliates informal libraries with the municipal network, Ostinata has connected with Milan's library system, recognized as a UNESCO City of Literature. The library will host events for young and elderly residents. Its inauguration is scheduled for February 14 at 6 pm, promoted by posters quoting Marguerite Yourcenar's 'Memoirs of Hadrian.'
