Prints & Printmaking Exhibition at DAF Beirut Showcases Arab Printmakers
The Dalloul Art Foundation (DAF) in Beirut will host 'Prints & Printmaking' from 5 September to 5 December 2024, showcasing the work of Arab artist-printmakers. This exhibition includes over 310 handmade fine art prints from DAF's collection, many of which are rarely exhibited, created by 34 distinguished artists such as Farid Belkahia, Chaïbia Talal, and Huguette Caland. Techniques featured include intaglio, relief, lithography, and silkscreen. Additionally, archival materials, unique artists' books, and a genuine copy of The Book of Psalms (1610) from the monastery of Saint Anthony of Qozhaya are on loan from la Bibliothèque Orientale de l'Université Saint-Joseph (USJ). DAF Director Wafa Roz emphasized the exhibition's goal to underscore the importance of printmaking in the digital age. Workshops will be conducted by Lebanese printmaker Ahmad Ghaddar (Renoz, b. 1994), and four filmed interviews with artists Mohammad Rawas, Samira Badran, Said Baalbaki, and Zeina Badran will be featured.
