Prints in the Age of Bruegel at BOZAR Brussels

exhibition · 2026-05-04

To mark the 450th anniversary of Pieter Bruegel the Elder's death, BOZAR in Brussels, co-produced with the Royal Library of Belgium, presents the exhibition Prints in the Age of Bruegel. The show features numerous engravings and woodcuts by the Dutch master and his contemporaries, highlighting the richness of 16th-century graphic arts in the Southern Netherlands. While Brussels became an international tapestry center, Antwerp emerged as a printing hub, where Bruegel produced drawings for engravings published by Hieronymus Cock's In de Vier Winden, spreading his name across Europe. The exhibition also showcases lesser-known but finely crafted print works, including early visual communication. Runs from February 27 to June 23 at BOZAR/Centre for Fine Arts, Rue Ravensteinstraat 23, Brussels.
