Prints for Gaza: Photographers Raise Funds for Palestinian Medical Aid
Milan-based association Live in Slums and photography community Perimetro have launched Prints for Gaza, a fundraising initiative supporting four medical entities in Gaza: Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), Al-Awda Hospital, MSF Doctors Without Borders, the Indonesian Hospital of Beit Lahia, and Al-Shifa Hospital. The campaign responds to the humanitarian crisis following the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel and subsequent Israeli bombardment of Gaza, which has caused nearly 10,000 deaths. Prints for Gaza has two components: Fine Art Prints (open edition images sold online for €100 from November 9 to December 30, 2023, with full proceeds donated) and Portraits (author portrait sessions booked online from November 21 to December 10, 2023, costing €120, with 50% donated and 50% to the photographer). The initiative launched at Casa degli Artisti in Milan and continues at Contemporary Cluster in Rome on November 18. Silvia Orazi, head of cooperation projects at Live in Slums, stated the urgency came from numerous requests for help and strong photographer participation. Funds will support the few remaining operational medical facilities in Gaza.
