Printemps de septembre 2010: Performance, archive and the living

From September 24 to October 17, 2010, Toulouse hosted the 20th edition of Le Printemps de septembre, themed 'Une forme pour toute action.' Curated by Éric Mangion, the festival featured over thirty exhibitions and a three-week schedule with more than a hundred artists, delving into the evolution of performance art. It drew inspiration from Harald Szeemann's 1969 showcase 'When Attitudes Become Form,' emphasizing re-performance and the archival documentation of significant actions by artists such as Kaprow, Burden, Cage, and Beuys. Noteworthy attractions included Compagnie du Zerep's Xanadoudou sets, Arnaud Labelle-Rojoux's massive breast installation, and Fabián Barba's reimagining of Mary Wigman's dance. A review pointed out the heavy reliance on documentation, referencing Polyphonix's history since 1979 with figures like Burroughs and Ginsberg.
