Previously unseen David Bowie photos by Terry O'Neill published in limited-edition book

publication · 2026-05-05

A limited-edition book titled 'Bowie by O'Neill' features previously unseen photographs of David Bowie taken by Terry O'Neill over their thirty-year collaboration. The negatives were discovered by chance during a year-long project with art director Des Curran. The 500-copy edition includes images spanning Bowie's career, from his final performance as Ziggy Stardust to the recording sessions for Young Americans, the Station to Station tour, a photoshoot with William Burroughs, stills from The Man Who Fell to Earth, and the legendary Diamond Dogs session where Bowie remained calm as a dog caused chaos. The book's cover features a bas-relief of Bowie by Milanese artist Germana Senzani, and it was bound by Errestampa. O'Neill, whose work is held by the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Getty Museum, and the National Portrait Gallery, originally aspired to be a jazz drummer. The book was presented at Ransom gallery in Chelsea, London, where it will be on display until October 21 alongside twenty large prints.
