Pretziada: Sardinian Creative Hub Fuses Art, Craft, and Cultural Tourism

Founded in 2015 by Ivano Atzori, an artist of Sardinian origin raised in Milan, and Kyre Chenven, a Californian set designer and manager with a background in fashion and hospitality, Pretziada is a cultural platform based in Sardinia. The name means 'precious' in Sardinian. The couple, who previously worked in Milan, New York, and Tuscany, moved permanently to Sardinia with their two children. Their website, pretziada.com, publishes in English, offering photo essays and narratives on local art, craftsmanship, and landscape, aiming to build imaginary bridges between Sardinians and outsiders. They deconstruct stereotypes of southern Italy, addressing issues like unemployment and corruption while highlighting modernist museums, UNESCO archaeological sites, and traditional costumes. Their headquarters is in Santadi, 45 km from Cagliari, where they are restoring five abandoned houses to host cultural tourism, art, and craft activities. A key project pairs artisans with designers every 3-4 months, selecting a piece of Sardinian craftsmanship to feature online. An e-commerce platform will launch soon, featuring works by Ivano Atzori, Valentina Cameranesi Sgroi, Ambroise Maggiar, Giorgia Bistrusso, Heart Studio, Walter Usai, and others. The initiative emphasizes quality over quantity and respects local traditions.
