Pressato Coffee And Books: New Café and Art Space Opens in Turin

other · 2026-04-27

Pressato Coffee And Books, a new specialty coffee shop and art space, opened in Turin during Artissima. Founded by visual designer Nello Russo and Diego Moriondo, it is located in the Quadrilatero romano at Palazzo San Liborio, a medieval building that once housed the Inquisition Tribunal. In 2008, Roman mosaics were discovered in its courtyard, now restored by Zumaglini & Gallina. The space features contemporary art by Ukrainian-Danish collage artist Sergei Sviatchenko, whose exhibition "Close up and private" runs until December 7. Russo, a former art director at Leo Burnett and Taschen, and director of Archivio Tipografico di Torino from 2012 to 2022, combines his passions for coffee and publishing. The venue offers artist books handmade by independent publishers in limited editions, alongside high-quality arabica coffee from local roastery Dropstery, run by Maurizio Galiano, who owns coffee farmland in Honduras. Starting January 2024, exhibitions will change every two to three months, focusing on editorial and artistic projects. The next show will present the production process of a book by Daniele Catalli, including sketches, prototypes, dies, and printing plates. The café also hosts talks and presentations, with a future coworking area using converted movable-type printing furniture. It serves breakfast with pastries and quick lunches featuring avocado toast and rye bread with hummus, sourced from local suppliers. Coffee is extracted using a vintage Faema e61 machine.
