Presente Indicativo Festival Returns to Milan with 16 Days of Theatre and Performance

The second edition of the international festival Presente Indicativo, curated by Claudio Longhi, artistic director of Piccolo Teatro di Milano, will take place from May 4 to 19, 2024. The biennial festival, subtitled Milano Porta Europa, features 16 artists and 16 performances across 16 days, including theatre, dance, and video art. Venues include the three halls of Piccolo Teatro, Teatro Franco Parenti, and non-theatrical spaces like Assab One, a former industrial building in Cimiano that once housed GEA (Grafiche Editoriali Ambrosiane). The festival's godmother is 90-year-old actress Giulia Lazzarini, known for her work with Giorgio Strehler. International participants include Patrice Chéreau directing Dominique Blanc in La Douleur, Pascal Rambert with Durante, Caroline Guiela Nguyen with Saigon, Łukasz Twarkowski with Rohtko, Marta Górnicka with Mothers – A Song for Wartime, Alexander Zeldin with The Confessions, Tiago Rodrigues with Entrelinhas, Mariano Pensotti, and Marco Layera. Italian artists include Marco D’Agostin, Fanny & Alexander with a show dedicated to Nina Simone, Filippo Andreatta and his collective OHT with Frankenstein, and Davide Carnevali with the site-specific project Limited Edition. Urban Theatre for the Future / Milano. The festival aims to explore the current state of Europe and imagine its future, inspired by the 40th anniversary of the Théâtre de l'Europe founded by Giorgio Strehler and French culture minister Jack Lang.
