Prentis AI Lab Co-Founded by Reid Hoffman, Mark Pincus Seeks $100M at $1B Valuation

Launched in April, Prentis is an AI research laboratory co-founded by Ritankar Das, Reid Hoffman, and Mark Pincus, currently negotiating to secure $100 million at a valuation of $1 billion. The startup specializes in developing computer use models that streamline office processes, including managing insurance claims and customs duty refund exceptions. It has secured contracts totaling up to $50 million with various clients, such as a healthcare management service, a manufacturer, and clothing producers. Prentis asserts that its Hive-32B model surpasses OpenAI's GPT-5.4 and Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.6 based on benchmarks from WindowsAgentArena and ScreenSpot-v2, offering a cost per task approximately ten times lower than leading APIs. The company anticipates an annualized run rate of $75 million by Q3 2026 and employs over 25 individuals, including researchers from OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Meta, Tencent, and Alibaba. Hoffman has recently resigned from Microsoft's board to concentrate on Manas AI, while Pincus oversees Reinvent Capital. Das, aged 31, is also the founder of Titan, which manages Tala Health and Forta Health.
