Premio Marche 2021 Biennial Opens at Forte Malatesta with Gino De Dominicis Exhibition

The Premio Marche, a significant contemporary art biennial in central Italy, has reopened at Forte Malatesta in Ancona for its 2021 edition, curated by Andrea Bruciati with Stefano Papetti, supported by AMIA. The main exhibition, "Il tempo, lo sbaglio, lo spazio: Gino De Dominicis," takes its theme from a sculpture by the Ancona-born artist, featuring works by De Dominicis alongside artists such as Schifano, De Chirico, Fontana, Chia, Paladino, Cattelan, and Pistoletto. The show includes rare watercolors and surrealist drawings, aiming to dismantle the posthumous myth surrounding De Dominicis and recontextualize his work. A concurrent exhibition, "Omaggio a Cecco D'Ascoli," curated by Papetti, features contemporary artists responding to the medieval poet and astrologer Cecco d'Ascoli, author of "L'Acerba Aetas." The Premio Marche was founded in 1957 by Alfredo Trifogli and has featured critics and major 20th-century artists like Burri, Casorati, Sironi, and Tamburi. The exhibitions run until March 27, 2022.
