Premio Irene Brin Turns 50 at Accademia di Costume e Moda in Rome

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Premio Irene Brin was founded by Rosana Pistolese, who also established the Accademia di Costume e Moda in Rome. Initially aimed at students, the award later shifted focus to recognize outstanding alumni, with Paloma Loré of Loewe being honored in 2019. Named after journalist Irene Brin, who was discovered by Leo Longanesi, the award's legacy includes the famous July 1947 issue of Harper's Bazaar. The milestone event brought together prominent figures from Italian fashion, such as Carlo Capasa and academy directors Lupo Lanzara and Furio Francini. Notable past recipients include Alessandro Michele and Antonio Mancinelli. The academy, founded in 1964, sought to bridge fashion and costume, with early faculty like Ottavio Spadaro and ties to Giulio Carlo Argan. The inaugural award in 1969 was presented to Sergio Bini.
