Premio Belluno/Cortina Returns After Decade, Awards To/Let Duo

After more than a decade, the Premio Belluno/Cortina art prize has been revived, awarding the female duo To/Let (Sonia Piedad Marinangeli and Elisa Placucci) as Artist of the Year 2019. The prize, curated by critic Renato Barilli, runs until August 24, 2019, with exhibitions at the Grand Hotel Savoia in Cortina and Palazzo Fulcis in Belluno, accompanied by a catalog with Barilli's essay. The duo, formed in 2005, works across installation, public art, photography, video, and illustration, often engaging with architectural spaces. Barilli first encountered them in 2006 at the DAMS in Bologna, impressed by their 2008 project filling a public bathroom in Rimini with hand-stamped sanitary pads. To/Let also founded the CHEAP poster art festival in Bologna in 2013, now managing 200 disused billboards in the city center. Their works include 'CHE COSA SONO#1' (2018, previously at Museo Michetti in Francavilla al Mare) and 'CHE COSA SONO#2' at Cortina, featuring Rorschach-like human forms on fabric. The prize previously celebrated artists like Carla Accardi, Mimmo Rotella, Agostino Bonalumi, Luigi Ontani, Enzo Cucchi, Botto e Bruno, and Sissi.
