Praemium Imperiale 2024 Winners Announced

The Japan Art Association has named the 2024 Praemium Imperiale laureates: Sophie Calle (Painting), Doris Salcedo (Sculpture), Ang Lee (Theatre/Film), Shigeru Ban (Architecture), and Maria João Pires (Music). Each receives 15 million yen (c. £73,000). The Grants for Young Artists, worth 5 million yen (c. £25,000), goes to Komunitas Salihara Arts Center in Jakarta, Indonesia's first private cultural complex, founded in 1995. Since 1989, the award honors artists with major international impact.
