Prado Museum unveils LGBT-themed tour of its permanent collection for World Pride

In celebration of World Pride, the Museo del Prado in Madrid introduced an alternative guided experience titled 'La Mirada del Otro. Scenarios for Difference,' running from June 23 to July 2, 2017. In collaboration with the Comunidad de Madrid, this tour features 30 significant works of art across four routes, emphasizing same-sex relationships and diverse sexual identities in Western art. The journey includes ancient Greco-Roman friendships and Renaissance masters like Leonardo and Caravaggio, showcasing figures such as Saint Sebastian and Rubens' mythological scenes. Curators Carlos Navarro and Álvaro Perdices enhanced traditional labels with additional explanatory panels. Tours and courses will be available until September 10, 2017. Director Miguel Falomir highlighted the museum's dedication to LGTBI culture and varied perspectives.
