Prado Museum Survey Reveals Spanish Art Preferences and Habits
A sociological research project, initiated by the Museo del Prado and executed by Instituto Sondea, polled 3,321 Spaniards aged 18 to 65 between February 26 and March 1, 2019. Findings reveal that 51.41% regard the Prado as the leading museum, and 95% believe it represents Spain's most significant cultural asset, despite over 37% having never set foot inside. Velázquez emerged as the most favored artist, followed by Goya and Picasso, with 'Las Meninas' being the most recognized artwork. While four out of ten individuals visited the museum last year, more than 8% haven't done so in over ten years, primarily due to disinterest. In March 2019, the Prado introduced a free online course on Bosch, attracting 35,000 participants before enrollment closed on March 31.
