Prado and Capodimonte Joint Exhibition on Spanish Renaissance in Naples
The 'Otro Renacimiento. Artistas españoles en Nápoles a comienzo del Cinquecento' exhibition is currently showcased at the Museo del Prado in Madrid, in partnership with the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Naples, and will be open until January 29, 2023. Curated by Manuel Arias, Riccardo Naldi, and Andrea Zezza, the display examines the artistic interactions during the Aragonese conquest of Southern Italy, featuring 75 artworks, including Raphael’s 'Vergine del Pesce.' Notable loans include marble sculptures by Girolamo Santacroce. The exhibition also emphasizes Spanish artists who returned to Spain, like Diego de Siloé and Alonso Berruguete. Prado director Miguel Falomir remarked on the influence of the Neapolitan experience on the Spanish Renaissance. It is set to move to Capodimonte in spring 2023.
