PPPattern's Fifteen*fifties Exhibition at Contemporary Cluster in Rome
PPPattern, the Italian platform for creativity founded in 2018 by Renato Fontana, Sergio Mattiuz, Andrea Cadorin, and Printaly, concludes its open call Fifteen*fifties with an exhibition at Contemporary Cluster in Rome. The call invited visual artists across Italy to create graphic patterns on the theme of the fabulous Fifties. A jury of interior design, art direction, and architecture experts—Carlotta Berta, Stefano Mirti, Cinzia Pagni, Angela Pastore, and Laura Traldi—selected fifteen patterns on display until December 14 at Palazzo Cavallerini's gallery of design and visual art. The exhibition pairs the winning patterns with a selection of representative 1950s design objects sourced from the Fondazione Adriano Olivetti and the Archivio Storico Olivetti, highlighting the legacy of Adriano Olivetti as an enlightened industrialist. Only three patterns will enter PPPattern's catalog, reproduced and sold as wallpapers. PPPattern started with wallpapers and now offers notebooks, mini-lamps, placemats, and PVC wallpapers that are glue-free and easily removable, aiming to bring creativity into daily life. The platform's collections have garnered interest from over 40 museum bookshops and concept stores in Italy and abroad. Fontana notes that selected proposals come from a special Italian geography where provinces compete with major centers, and young talents engage with established professionals.
