PPAA Extends Rafael Moneo's City Hall Geometry into Logroño's Public Plaza

In 2026, Mexico City-based studio PPAA completed Resonancia, an installation in Logroño, Spain, that extends the geometry of Rafael Moneo's City Hall into the adjacent public plaza. Rather than adding a new object, the project uses a three-dimensional grid of aluminum stakes to make visible the spatial forces already implicit in the site. The grid, derived from the building's alignments and proportions, creates a permeable lattice that varies in density, inviting movement and pause. The reflective aluminum surfaces capture light and surrounding context, partially dissolving the structure's edges. The installation is self-supporting and modular, assembled without permanent fixings, allowing it to be dismantled without leaving a trace. This approach reflects PPAA's interest in structural lightness, as seen in their 2025 installation Resonancia Suspendida at Mextropoli in Mexico City, which featured a 24-metre wood beam on rotating panels.
