Postmedia Books Celebrates 20 Years with Three-Day Festival in Milan
Postmedia Books, the Italian publishing house founded by Gianni Romano, marks its 20th anniversary with Postmedia Parole, a three-day festival at Spazio Maria Calderara in Milan from May 13 to 15, 2022. The event features authors published by Postmedia, who will be available to the public. Postmedia Books, established in 2002, grew out of Postmedia, a digital platform launched in 1994 that became Italy's first online art magazine. Over two decades, the press has published over 330 volumes, filling a gap in Italian art criticism by translating key international texts such as Arthur Danto's "The Abuse of Beauty," Hal Foster's "The Return of the Real," David Joselit's "After Art," and Nicolas Bourriaud's "Relational Aesthetics." Notably, Italian editions of Bourriaud's "L'Exforma" and "Inclusions: Aesthetics of the Capitalocene" preceded the original-language releases. The press has also featured works by Rosalind Krauss, Jerry Saltz, Boris Groys, and collected scattered writings of Hans Ulrich Obrist. Beyond art criticism, Postmedia has published books on design (Alessandro Mendini, Ron Arad, Philippe Starck, Andrea Branzi), architecture (Steven Holl, Toyo Ito, Rem Koolhaas), and music (Karlheinz Stockhausen). Romano, drawing on his curatorial experience, notes that early editorial choices were influenced by curatorial approaches, especially in layout. The festival runs daily from 5 to 9 PM at Via Lazzaretto 15.
