Post-photography roundtable at INHA with Bajac, Ebner, Jouve

On April 15, 2019, artpress will host a roundtable titled "La post-photographie, et après ?" at the INHA auditorium in Paris, from 5:00 PM. The event, held in partnership with Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the Collège international de photographie du Grand Paris, precedes a forthcoming artpress2 issue on contemporary photography scheduled for November. Participants include Quentin Bajac (director of Jeu de Paume), Florian Ebner (head of the Cabinet de la photographie at Centre Pompidou), Nathalie Giraudeau (director of Centre photographique d'Île-de-France), artist and teacher Valérie Jouve, and art history professor Michel Poivert. The discussion will be moderated by Étienne Hatt (deputy editor-in-chief of artpress) and artist-teacher Aurélie Pétrel. The roundtable explores the elusive concept of post-photography, questioning whether it denotes a historical moment, a new condition of the image, or specific practices. While linked to digital revolution, dematerialization, and networked existence, post-photography also encompasses practices that use pre-digital techniques and aim for rematerialization. The event will also announce the two winners of the 2019 research-creation grant from the Centre d'expérimentation du Collège international de photographie du Grand Paris.
