Porsche stockpiles gas-powered Macans before discontinuation
Porsche is stockpiling gas-powered Macans before the model ends production this summer, aiming to extend sales into 2027. The first-generation ICE Macan, introduced in 2014, remains popular despite the all-electric second-generation model being on sale for two years. In Q1 2026, the ICE Macan outsold the electric version 10,130 to 2,051 units. The ICE model cannot be sold in Europe since mid-2024 due to cybersecurity regulations but is especially popular in the U.S., where the federal EV tax credit was eliminated last year. CFO Jochen Breckner stated the company is building "as many as we can" at its Leipzig factory. A new gas-powered SUV positioned below the Cayenne is planned for 2028.
