Porfirio Building by ViGa Arquitectos: Densification with Identity in Mexico City
The Porfirio Building, a mixed-use housing project spanning 460 square meters, was finalized in 2025 by ViGa Arquitectos in Mexico City's Noche Buena area. Crafted by architects Ángela Vizcarra and Alberto García Valladares, the design focuses on urban densification while maintaining the city's character. Situated near Parque Hundido, the structure comprises two vertical sections connected by a horizontal base, blending residential and commercial spaces. Retail units with separate entrances occupy the ground floor, ensuring privacy for the upper-level residences. The design team featured Ariadna Gutiérrez, Brisa Herrera, and Julio Romero, with landscape architecture by Patio. Structural engineering was provided by Grupo SAI, and Grupo MEB handled electrical engineering. The project was featured on ArchDaily, curated by Valentina Díaz, with photography by Ángela Vizcarra and Christian Ortega.
