POPUP Hosts Three Concert Events to Start May
On May 1, the POPUP venue in Liège will host three concerts featuring Chaton Laveur, Monolithe Noir, and Manger les Oiseaux. Chaton Laveur is a duo formed during lockdown in Liège, consisting of Julie (guitar, bass, vocals) and Pierre (drums, keyboards, vocals), blending 1960s-70s German krautrock with 1990s indie rock. Their music is minimalist yet hypnotic, with motorik rhythms, shoegaze textures, and lyrics in French and Spanish. Monolithe Noir, known for merging instruments and machines, will present their fourth album "La foi gelée," released February 27 via Humpty Dumpty Records and Les Cloches d'Atlantis. The album addresses grief but is described as their most sung, direct, and luminous work. Manger les Oiseaux, a project by Vincent and Ambre, combines krautrock, pop, and psychedelia with saturated guitar, synthesizer, and a dynamic rhythm section. Their lyrics, in French and English, draw on surrealist poetry and are inspired by Stereolab and Broadcast. The event is a partner of Club Artistik Rezo.
