Pop Bites: itinerant art and food series launches in Milan

Pop Bites, a new itinerant series merging contemporary art and cuisine, debuts January 28 at DOTS in Milan (Via Mario Pagano 19). Curated by Giorgio Chinea Canale and promoted by collector Francesco Noto of FNG Consulting, the one-night-only exhibitions feature Neo Pop Italian artists with bespoke performances. The inaugural event showcases Francesco De Molfetta (born 1979, Milan), whose limited-edition "Killer a sorpresa" series transforms chocolate eggs into explosive weapons, critiquing how innocent-looking objects conceal systems of conditioning and addiction. Attendees receive toy meal deliveries matching the artworks. After the event, select works remain on view by appointment at FGN Consulting in Piazza Amendola, Milan. The series continues February 6 in Bologna at the Bulthaup showroom (Corte de Galluzzi 5) during Arte Fiera, featuring Giovanni Motta (born 1971, Verona) with three canvases and ten wooden silhouettes of his character Jonny Boy, exploring eternal youth. A performance by Motta, Canale, and chef Aleandro Polenti will create a colorful sandwich. The project concludes in spring with Giuseppe Veneziano in Venice, expanding the dialogue between pop imagery, cultural critique, and audience participation.
