Pompeii Archaeological Park runs social farm and inclusion projects

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

The Archaeological Park of Pompeii oversees a significant green area and has been implementing social inclusion initiatives for several years. Arianna Spinosa, who leads the accessibility office, highlights that early actions focused on eliminating architectural obstacles for visitors with mobility impairments. Subsequently, the office expanded its efforts to include cognitive and sensory assistance, partnering with schools and organizations for individuals with disabilities. In the wake of the pandemic, the Park intends to involve disabled youth in tasks such as maintenance and fruit harvesting, supported by regional funding and the PNRR initiative "Un modello nuovo." Additionally, the social farm Parvula Domus promotes gardening and beekeeping, while the Pompeii Children's Museum features an archaeology-themed playground. Since 2016, accessibility has been a priority, particularly for local visitors. The theater initiative "Sogno di Volare," backed by Madonna, enables youth performances at the Teatro Grande.
