Pompei reopens domus and Casa dei Vettii under Grande Progetto
On December 23, 2016, Pompei reopened several domus, including the House of Adone ferito, the House of the Labyrinth, and the House of the Anchor, and completed safety works in Regio VI. The Casa dei Vettii, closed since 2007, is now accessible to the public, showcasing its refined triclinium frescoes depicting mythological scenes such as Ariadne abandoned by Theseus on Naxos and Daedalus giving Pasiphaë the wooden cow. The reopening was attended by Minister of Cultural Heritage Dario Franceschini and involved Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni. These efforts are part of the ongoing Grande Progetto Pompei, a major conservation and restoration initiative for the archaeological site.
