Pompei. Eros e mito: Pappi Corsicato's documentary on Pompeii hits Italian cinemas
The documentary Pompei. Eros e mito, directed by Pappi Corsicato and narrated by Isabella Rossellini, will be released in Italian cinemas from November 9 to 11, 2020, as part of Nexo Digital's La Grande Arte al cinema series. Produced by Sky, Ballandi, and Nexo Digital with scientific contribution from the Parco Archeologico di Pompei and participation of the MANN (Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli), the film explores the myths and passions of ancient Pompeii, including the love story of Bacchus and Ariadne at the Villa dei Misteri, the ambiguous relationship of Leda and the Swan, gladiatorial combats, and Poppea Sabina's quest for immortality. It also reveals lesser-known and secret aspects of the city, such as artifacts hidden by the Catholic Church in the 18th century due to their scandalous nature. The original soundtrack is by composer and pianist Remo Anzovino, who received a Special Mention at the Nastro d'Argento 2019 for his film scores. Pompeii is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
