Polybion and Natural Urbano Launch Cenit Lighting Collection with Cultivated Cellulose
Polybion and Natural Urbano have unveiled Cenit, a new family of lighting objects that combines natural ash, stainless steel, and Celium Manto, a premium cultivated cellulose. The collection follows Lapso and marks the first collaboration between the biotechnology company and the design studio. Inspired by golden horizons and 1970s linear compositions, Cenit translates light into a suspended horizontal landscape. The structure uses a layered natural ash spine with thin sheets pressed and nailed together, holding the translucent Celium Manto shade between eight ash layers. Celium is cultivated by feeding bacteria with agro-industrial fruit waste, resulting in subtle variations in tone and density. The collection includes pendant and table formats, with the table lamp available in Celium Manto (translucent) or Celium Keros/Espumante (denser, textured). Each lamp is made to order with a five-week delivery time, available through Natural Urbano's website and the Vibe Lab/Polybion Shopify. The design team includes Lorena Márquez and Sebastián Beltrán of Natural Urbano, with collaborating team Axel Gómez-Ortigoza and Alexis Gómez-Ortigoza of Polybion.
