Polvere e Luce: Italian Artists Illuminate NM> Contemporary in Monaco

exhibition · 2026-05-04

NM> Contemporary in Monaco has opened a group exhibition titled 'Polvere e Luce' (Powder and Light), curated by Gaspare Luigi Marcone, coinciding with the Art Monte-Carlo fair. The show explores the conceptual and material relationship between dust and light in contemporary art, featuring works by five Italian artists: Andrea Francolino (b. 1979), who uses micro-particles of shattered and recomposed glass; Goldschmied & Chiari (Sara Goldschmied, b. 1975, and Eleonora Chiari, b. 1971), known for smoke-generated chromatic trajectories; Sophie Ko (b. 1981), who works with pure pigment; and Serena Vestrucci (b. 1986), who creates 'tricked' landscapes. The exhibition draws on historical references such as John Fante's novel 'Ask the Dust' (1939), Man Ray's 'Dust Breeding' (1920) related to Marcel Duchamp's 'The Large Glass', and Claudio Parmiggiani's soot-outlined books. The show opened during the Art Monte-Carlo fair in the Principality of Monaco.
