cultural-heritage · 2026-05-05

On April 22, the Polo del '900, a newly established cultural center in Turin, will kick off with a week of activities. Located within the Juvarrian complex of Quartieri Militari, specifically in Palazzo San Celso and Palazzo San Daniele, the center unites twelve cultural organizations dedicated to exploring the 20th century, its conflicts, and their impacts. This non-profit initiative was founded by the Comune di Torino, Regione Piemonte, and Compagnia di San Paolo. Spanning 3,000 square meters of public space across four levels and a basement, it features two reading rooms, three educational spaces, a library, a bar-bookshop, and archives. The center holds 300,000 historical monographs and collections from institutions like the ANCR and Museo Diffuso della Resistenza. A permanent exhibition titled Torino 1938-1948 includes an air-raid shelter.
