Polly Samson's Photographic Journey with David Gilmour at Leica Gallery London
Polly Samson, acclaimed novelist and lyricist for Pink Floyd and David Gilmour, presents her first solo photography exhibition at Leica Gallery London, running until 7 May 2026. The show, 'Polly Samson – Between This Breath and Then', features intimate images from her 20-year documentation of Gilmour's creative process, both in studio and on tour. A companion book, 'David Gilmour: Luck and Strange – Studio/Live', is published by Thames & Hudson. Samson's photographs capture candid moments, including candlelit studio sessions, backstage at Madison Square Garden, and family scenes. Her background as a writer informs her narrative-driven framing. The exhibition includes images from the 'Luck and Strange' tour and earlier works, such as 'Muse and Magpie' (2016) and 'Romany Gilmour, 64 Candles Project' (2024). Samson notes that Gilmour's lack of vanity allows for honest portraits. The show coincides with the release of Gilmour's album 'Luck and Strange', for which Samson co-wrote lyrics.
