Polly Pocket's 35th anniversary celebrated with life-sized Airbnb house
To mark Polly Pocket's 35th anniversary, a life-sized replica of the 1990s Slumber Party Fun compact has been built in Littleton, Massachusetts. The two-story house features a soft sofa, refrigerator, wardrobe with wearable looks inspired by the doll, and a full-scale Action Park tent outside. Airbnb will host three one-night stays for four guests each from September 12 to 14, 2024, at $89 per person, commemorating Polly's 1989 debut. Reservations open on Airbnb from August 21 to 28. Polly Pocket was created in 1983 by English designer Chris Wiggs for his daughter Kate, using a powder compact. Wiggs died at 74 on June 20, 2024. The toy was first patented by Bluebird Toys and later acquired by Mattel, which sold over 10 million compacts before a 2018 relaunch.
