Politecnico di Torino launches Italy's first Impact Campus for social sustainability
The Politecnico di Torino, in collaboration with Fondazione Giovanni ed Annamaria Cottino and SocialFare, has announced the creation of Italy's first Impact Campus dedicated to social sustainability education for architects and engineers. The project, backed by a €10 million investment, will be housed in a new Learning Center adjacent to via Boggio, designed by an internal team from the Department of Architecture and Design. Completion is expected within two years. In the interim, the campus will operate within the Cittadella Politecnica. Giovanni Cottino, president of the foundation and a 1950 graduate of the Politecnico in Mechanical Engineering, emphasized the initiative's alignment with the foundation's mission. Rector Guido Saracco highlighted the collaboration as a unique example in Italy and internationally, fostering shared spaces, educational programs, and initiatives with strong local impact. SocialFare, founded by the Congregation of Giuseppini del Murialdo, brings expertise in social innovation, with CEO Laura Orestano expressing enthusiasm for building an impact culture through broad stakeholder involvement.
